Another Case study

This card was made by my friend, Assumption Antao, who enjoys card making too but due to her hectic schedule hasnt been able to join in for quite some time. She also made her card keeping in mind the card inspiration from Beyond Grey Challenge #14- Case Study.
I had just received my parcel of die cut butterflies from Kavitha of Kalalayaa craft store and my friend was fascinated with them. So she wanted to added the die cut butterfly in her card.

And this is the close up of the butterfly.

Ain't it absolutely gorgeous? The other 2 butterflies are stamped and cut out.
Also adding her card in The Paper Shelter Challenge #77- Clean and Simple
and For the love of crafting: Challenge #9- CAS.
Hope you liked her card.

Case Study - Thanks.

I came across this awesome challenge on Beyond Grey Challenges #14 - Case study last week with a card inspiration from Romina. Thought real hard what I could do with the inspiration to make it my own. And this is what i came up with.

Although I made this on Saturday, my internet has been playing spoilsport all these days. So finally todays the day. :)
Also entering this card on The Paper Shelter Challenge #77- Clean and Simple
and For the love of crafting challenge #9 - CAS.

Hope you liked the card. Do leave me your valuable comments to let me know.

Shades of Blue- part 2

I had originally posted one blogpost with both the cards but then realised I couldn't enter both the cards for the same challenge. So this card gets a separate blogpost.
You will have to scroll down to read the first half.

The next card I made is with the same colour theme of navy, aqua and lime.
These squares measure 1 1/4 inches and the top set of squares have been rounded to show the bottom squares. I have added eyelets to give it a masculine look.
Here's a close up:
The 'happy birthday' stamp is from the Curly Cute stamp set of Stampin' Up. Isn't it beautiful?

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
CAS-ual Fridays: CFC63- Lime, Aqua and Navy
Clean & Simple: 200- sketch

Beyond Grey Challenges: BGC#13- Card without Stamping (sentiments allowed)

Hope you liked this one too. Feel free to leave me your comments.

Shades of Blue- part 1

Its been some time that I've been in the mood for crafting. But this weekend, I was raring to go. Friday night I looked online for inspiration from some challenges and I was truly inspired. Saturday early morning I started and the ideas kept flowing. I was working with a deadline of mid morning since my niece and nephew were coming home and I would not be able to get any work done with them around.
There are 2 cards I made on Saturday. There were more ideas I had in mind however time didnt permit me. So here is one:

The next image is a close up. The dark blue mat is actually inked with the Brilliance Mediterranean Blue ink drop. Looks good, doesn't it?
The squares measure 3/4 inches. The sentiment is from Curly Cute of Stampin' Up!

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Beyond Grey Challenges #13: Card without stamping
CAS-ual Fridays CFC63: Challenge colours - lime, aqua and navy

I really love the outcome of my saturday morning and love the colour combination of these cards.
Do let me know what you think about it.

Just in Time!

For the past few weeks, I have tried participating in a few challenges. However, I always ended up missing the dates. So today I made a card to participate in 3 different challenges. Whew!!
And im posting it just in time. (I hope!)

All these 3 challenges are unique ones:
Indian Craft Room: ICR19- Fancy Folds + Anything but an easel card.
Beyond Grey Challenges: BGC #12- Challenge Ombre
For the love of crafting: Challenge #8- Anything goes with twist (brown or shades of brown)

I came across this card on Night Owl Designs and I was very fascinated. I just had to try it. So today within an hour, my card was ready.
Here it is:

A star card. It looks intricate and tough but its not difficult at all following the directions of Cliona Larkin.
When you open it, this is how it looks:

Another look:

Isn't it unique? Do let me know what you think.

Hope you all had a great weekend.
Hugs.

I'm so blue....

..without you!
It's been almost 2 months since I've seen my DH and I'm missing him...so very much. He's in the merchant navy and those of you who remember i sailed with him last year for 6 months along the coast of Australia. It was wonderful. That's where I discovered stamps and patterned paper and all the lovely treasures of card making. He will be back by October and am eagerly waiting for him.

Now to get back to the card I made, it has a similar theme. Blue, black and white from The Play Date Cafe. And the sketch is from Clean and Simple - sketch 196.

And this is my take on the 2 challenges:

After I added the black squares and images, I felt the left side of the card was pretty empty. So I ran it through the cuttlebug and also scored 2 lines between the images and the embossing. Now it looked complete.
On the black strip, instead of a button, I stuck some white stars in the form of a flourish. It has a shine and so looks pinkish from an angle. I also added some butterflies continuing the image.
What do you think of my card?

Roses are Pink!!

Hi. Hope you all had a great weekend!
It was my best friend's birthday yesterday and so over the weekend I made her a card. My inspiration for the card came from an old UK craft magazine I happened to chance upon at a small book stand. My luck!
Well, this is the card I made her.

The magazine recommends using circle punches to get the petals. Since I had just one circle punch, I hand cut the petals. The leaves too are handcut.

The centers of the roses have little pearls in them to give it a soft glow.

Im entering this card in:
CAS-ual Fridays: CFC58
Less is More: Week 73 recipe - Paper piecing

I enjoyed making this card. Hope you like it too!
Hugs.

PS: I made it to Top 3  at Beyond Grey Challenges for this card. Thank you BGC!
